Provide therapeutic relief from chronic or acute low back or hip pain with over 5 hours of bodywork and movement therapies crafted to benefit both client and therapist well being. A thorough anatomical tutorial will examine the structural and functional causes and remedies for these areas of the body, as well as a scientific update on the latest research into the 21st century’s anatomical and functional core musculature. Also included is a discussion on the “Bio-Psycho-Social” influences that either turn up or turn down the volume of pain. We then communicate how therapists can educate clients to make simple changes in their behavior and posture to feel better over time. The hands-on demonstrations are inspired by comprehensive and multimodal approaches from Medical and Orthopedic Massage, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, PNF, Structural Integration, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Acupressure, Trigger Point Therapy, Thai Massage, and more. Finally, a section devoted to self-care and client at-home healing moves are offered so therapists can feel better in their own back and hips and share these recommendations to extend the benefits between sessions.

Integrating science and sensitive attention, therapists practice decompressing the L5-S1 joint, release SI Joint discomfort, and assess the difference between disc injuries and facet joint injuries. Special hands-on emphasis include gentle and comprehensive psoas release, releasing the muscles most associated with pseudo-sciatica (like gluteus medius and piriformis) in the side-lying positions, and practicing at-home healing moves like the Pelvic clock technique to restore balance and alignment at the base of the spine.

Join us for a 360-degree exploration releasing all lumbar compartments, with special emphasis on working the back and hips in the supine and side-lying positions to provide long-lasting relief from back, hip, and sciatica pain. Specific structures and conditions that are addressed in this course include gently and comprehensively releasing the psoas and piriformis muscles (only muscles that attach the axial to the lower appendicular vertebrae, to release impinged nerves, compressed joints, and restrictions and adhesions in the fascia.
